Tasting Notes

Made from Grenache grapes in the classic Provençale style, the 2023 DAOU Rosé displays beautiful radiance with a pale flamingo hue. Delicate aromas of peach, apricot, mango and lemony vanilla are accompanied by floral hints of hibiscus and honeysuckle. The palate is perfectly poised, balancing light and airy textures with a lush, crisp juiciness. Flavors of nectarine, papaya and Crenshaw melon reveal lingering notes of apple and citrus zest, all converging into a clean, silky finish.

      Vintage Notes
The 2023 growing season was fueled by abundant winter rainfall that exceeded 30 inches in several areas of Paso Robles, more than double the annual average. This much-needed water replenished the soils and mitigated some of the impact of recent drought years. The long winter led to a late bud break followed by moderate summer temperatures. These conditions allowed for an extended hang time, with harvest starting a few weeks later than typical. Finally, October brought a series of warm days that allowed for a perfect alignment of physiological and phenolic ripeness. The overall quality of the 2023 vintage is exceptional. The wines have retained freshness and natural acidity while displaying beautiful flavor development.
