Tasting Notes

This striking, garnet Pinot Noir entices with aromatic layers of strawberry and red plum, while beautifully perfumed and lifted savory notes of bay leaf and wild thyme blend seamlessly, echoing the aromatic notes found within the Grace Benoist Ranch terroir. On the palate, crushed stone minerality and earth sit alongside polished tannins and a persistent and balanced acidity. A round expression of Grace Benoist Ranch, this wine’s concentrated mouthfeel leads to a persistent and developed finish.

      Vintage Notes
The 2021 season produced exceptionally high-quality fruit with some of the best grapes seen in recent years. Early rains led to almost no notable precipitation for the remainder of the season, providing an ideal environment for grapes to flower, bloom, and set in early spring, with budbreak early in April, followed by flowering and bloom in May. The summer saw early and even ripening, with veraison appearing in early July. Low yields (in part due to dry conditions), created fruit that is intensely flavored and smaller in berry size. An early-September harvest of our Temblor Pinot Noir ushered in fruit of optimal ripening and taste, allowing our winemaker to craft a wine of fantastic character, with amazing color extraction, aromatic intensity, tremendous balance, and structure, that are equally lush and fruity. A terrific year to taste the nuances and distinctive terroir character from Grace Benoist Ranch.
